Kentessa.com Set to Enrich Online Shopping in Abu Dhabi
Press Release Issued by Kentessa.com on June 5th, 2008.
/E-commerce News Articles/ - ABU DHABI, UAE, June 09, 2008 - Kentessa.com is a commercial website based in the United Arab Emirates that is scheduled to launch in July, 2008. The e-commerce company has been modeled after Nasdaq listed companies such as 1-800-Flowers, Amazon.com, and privately owned enterprises such as GiftTree.com. Kentessa.com specializes in next-day delivery of a line of products that includes designer fragrances, gourmet chocolates, baby baskets, branded toys, luxury crystal ware, electronics and spa gift sets.
The U.A.E., a small country located in the Middle East with a population of 4.4 million, has already exceeded $1.1 billion in consumers spending online. But noteworthy here is that even though internet penetration rates are around 21.3% within the Middle East, the growth in the number of internet users has been the highest in the world at 1176% between 2000 and 2008.
Interestingly the United Arab Emirates is host to the world's richest city Abu Dhabi, and contains 20% of the world's construction cranes due to the rapid real-estate development projects led by Dubai and the country as a whole.
It is widely believed that Kentessa.com's business model was therefore structured to emphasize globally-recognized luxury brands that appealed to a larger spectrum of consumers. Scheduled to launch with over 300 products, Kentessa.com will provide a comprehensive list of branded products that include Mont Blanc, Victoria's Secret, Body Shop, Godiva, Versaci, Bateel and Swarovski to name a few. The company was founded with the objective of capitalizing on a distribution channel that had not previously matured in the Middle East before the year 2008.
