Car hire comparison specialist launches 6th annual campaign to raise road safety awareness.

SURREY, ENGLAND, December 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Online car hire price comparison specialist Carrentals.co.uk has introduced its sixth annual 'Road Sense' campaign this week. The purpose of the initiative is to heighten awareness around UK road safety, and is run in conjunction with road charity Brake.

Each year the Road Sense campaign sets out a key road safety goal, with this year's being about the need for regular checks on car brakes and tyres. The campaign wants to ensure people carry out vital checks ahead of the winter weather and icy roads, and that motorists don't skimp on potentially life-saving inspections even though budgets remain tight.

Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: "This winter we want UK motorists to be as aware as possible of the importance of getting their tyres and brakes inspected. This is a key way to avoid accidents on the UK's icy roads this winter."

Brake is among the best-known and largest UK road safety charities and reports that car accidents are the biggest cause of death for UK young people today. Lots of incidents and accidents are the result of high speeds and overtaking by young motorists who take chances and risks. One out of every eight drivers in the UK is aged under 25 and of people in that age bracket but one of that age bracket is present in one out of every four major accidents.

"We are working with Brake on our sixth Road Sense campaign this year and are again working towards increased safety on a major issue," Gareth went on. "Brake specialises in giving positive advice to drivers which they should pay close attention to - everyone needs to make an effort if we are to lower the number of fatal accidents on British roads."
